Shocking Alcohol Deaths in South Africa Illustrate Harmful Practices of the Alcohol Industry

Recently, two consecutive incidences of people dying due to binge alcohol use were reported in South Africa. First, a competition to consume alcohol and win money cost a young man’s life. Then 21 young people – some of them reportedly underage – died in a packed nightclub.
South Africa needs urgent improvements to its alcohol policies to better protect people from these types of harmful sales promotions practices.
