Heineken Land Grab Shatters Lives and Livelihoods in Ethiopia

Revelations by investigative journalist Olivier van Beemen show that Heineken built a new brewery on land on the outskirts of Addis Abba, capital city of Ethiopia. To make space for the beer giant’s factory, the state sent in bulldozers and special police to force an entire community to relocate. For Heineken the venture pushed them towards dominating the beer market in Ethiopia. For the people it means shattered lives and livelihoods.
