Civil Society Organization partners with Bavaria
Posted on February 07, 2024 in AB InBev, Manipulation, ColombiaCivil society organisation collaborating with the alcohol brand “Bavaria” to offer capacity building in promoting so called “responsible alcohol use”.
Such collaborations serve the interests of the alcohol industry by legitimizing and normalizing its products. By partnering with reputable civil society organizations, alcohol companies gain a veneer of credibility and goodwill, which they can use to deflect attention away from the harmful effects of their products and undermine efforts to implement effective measures.
Partnerships between civil society organizations and the alcohol industry raise concerns about conflicts of interest and the integrity of advocacy efforts. Accepting funding or support from alcohol companies may compromise the independence and autonomy of civil society organizations, leading to a dilution of their mission and objectives. This can result in advocacy efforts that prioritize the interests of the alcohol industry over public health and well-being
