The alcohol industry in South Korea recorded more sales in 2020 even amidst the raging COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, Big Alcohol is pushing to weaken online alcohol sales regulations in the country citing business downturn due to the pandemic.
South Korea’s alcohol policy protections are already in a weak and outdated state. This new push by the alcohol industry will further weaken existing alcohol policy protections and expose South Koreans to more harms caused by alcohol products.
