Number of People With Alcohol Use Problems Continues to Climb in England and Northern Ireland

In England, the number of people with alcohol use problems have continued to climb during the pandemic. According to a new YouGov poll 18% adults had at-risk alcohol use after the pandemic began comparative to 12% before the pandemic.

The cheap alcohol products of the alcohol industry is preying on the vulnerable in England, specifically the most deprived and people with alcohol use problems. It is crucial that the UK government increases alcohol taxes or implements an alcohol minimum unit price such as in Scotland and Wales to protect the lives of citizens.
