USA: Supersized Alcopops Fuel Poisoning Cases

Posted on April 02, 2021 in The Americas, United States of America

The alcohol industry produces, markets and sells supersized alcopops, which are flavored high content alcohol products. These specifically target young people. A new study found that calls to U.S. poison control centers regarding underage poisoning due to these alcopops were very high compared to other alcohol products.
There is a need to address the alcopop issue through policy solutions such as alcohol content and availability regulation. This will protect youth and children from exposure to the harmful products and practices pushed by Big Alcohol.
