USA and COVID-19: Big Alcohol Lobby Weakens Alcohol Policy Protections and Alcohol Harm Skyrockets

The Big Alcohol lobby in the United States (U.S.) has been relentlessly pursuing a state alcohol deregulation agenda. State law makers have often buckled under the pressure and the alcohol industry’s talking points that weakening alcohol laws would help small businesses.
But there is no national analysis of how much these measures really have helped small businesses. According to restaurant owners themselves, the measures have not helped much. It appears major alcohol companies are the ones profiting the most. But these profits come at the cost of American citizen’s health and well-being.
