In preparation of the fourth High-Level Meeting on NCDs and Mental Health, the President of the UN General Assembly convened an interactive multi-stakeholder hearing. It took place on May 2, 2025 at the UN in New York with Movendi International and several Movendi members being present and delivering statements.
Movendi International got the honor of opening the interactive part of the second panel discussion under the topic of “Reshaping and strengthening health systems and all forms of financing to meet the needs of people living with and at risk of NCDs and mental health conditions”.
In the statement, Maik Dünnbier outlined the vision and why it is under threat. He powerfully addressed the harmful and predatory practices of the alcohol industry fueling cancer, mental ill-health and other NCDs. And he called for five priority actions for governments to take so that the political declaration of the High-Level Meeting this September becomes a real turning point.
