The European Commission has published its implementation plan for Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.
The roadmap contains six alcohol policy action to help prevent cancer in Europe. Alcohol use, even low-dose alcohol consumption, is a major cause of cancer in Europe. But alcohol policy solutions are available to reduce the cancer burden. Especially alcohol taxation holds substantial potential to prevent cancer incidences and deaths. Nevertheless, the alcohol industry has already mobilized its corporate lobbyists to fight – not against cancer – but against proven alcohol policy solutions.
