At the UN Multistakeholder Hearing on NCDs, civil society came together to highlight how NCDs and major risk factors, including alcohol affect our societies and communities and how renewed commitment to high-impact policy actions can mark a turning point in the global response to the alcohol burden.
Big Alcohol shockingly also was allowed into the room. They used the moment to promote themselves and lie to the UN, governments, and everyone present. Behind the polished PR, the IARD spread misleading narratives designed to delay alcohol policy action and protect profits of the corporations that fund it.
This blog post exposes how their rhetoric contradicts world class science and why the alcohol industry cannot be a credible partner in public health.
