Alcohol Consumption Is Rising Among Heavy Users in India

The latest National Family Health Survey data between 2019 and 2021 report a decline in alcohol use compared with previous surveys. However, this decline does not align with alcohol sales data in India which show an increase in sales. The most plausible reason for this mismatch is that alcohol use in India is rising among those who use alcohol heavily.
